The most common procedure performed in-house using SHAH's GE color-capable ultrasound is for assisting in urine collection by Cystocentesis. Using real-time imaging to guide a sterile, small gauge needle through the pet's abdominal wall into the pet's urinary bladder to collect a non-contaminated urine specimen for Complete Urinalysis, Culture with Sensitivity of potential bacterial pathogens, and/or Cytology on the urine specimen. This procedure is performed several times weekly at SHAH on fully, awake patients and is a non-painful procedure.
